Americans for Prosperity Launches New Seven-Figure Ad Campaign and Grassroots Blitz to Preserve Trump Tax Cuts

AFP’s Tax Day Ads Warn Americans of Massive Tax Hikes Next Year if TCJA Not Renewed

ARLINGTON, VA— Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is launching a new seven-figure ad and grassroots campaign today highlighting what will be a Tax Day Nightmare next year for American working families if Congress fails to renew the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

In addition to the digital and radio ads, AFP state chapters will be hosting dozens of grassroots rallies and events across the country and meeting with Members of Congress to underscore the urgency to act. The campaign will leverage national attention around Tax Day (April 15th) to drive awareness of the thousands of dollars everyday families could be on the hook for next year if the tax cuts were to expire.

AFP Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement on the importance of extending the Trump tax cuts and what’s at stake politically:

“The 2017 Trump tax cuts were the most pro-growth tax reform efforts in American history and AFP was proud to work alongside President Trump and leaders in Congress to give hardworking Americans much needed relief.  If the Trump tax cuts are allowed to expire it will cause significant financial burdens to American families, workers and job creators. AFP is fighting on their behalf so every American knows of the imminent threat the largest tax hike in U.S. history presents and how they can make their voices heard and hold their lawmakers accountable.

“Congress needs to act quickly and get the policy right, so businesses have the certainty they need to invest, and Americans feel the benefits well before the next election. With everything packed into one big reconciliation bill, the entire agenda is on the line. If they succeed, they’ll be heading into the midterms with the momentum of a big win – and their best chance to buck the historical political trends by delivering on their promises.”

Few remember that the original 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act faced significant hurdles, even with a 50 vote Republican majority in the House, before it ultimately passed. Today, the margin for error is much slimmer, which means grassroots mobilization efforts to ensure the final legislation is both good policy and politically popular will be essential.

This campaign is a continuation of AFP’s $20 million commitment made in January – the largest investment of any outside limited-government conservative organization in support of a key pillar of President Trump’s agenda. In 2023 and 2024 AFP and AFP Action reached out to nearly 30 million voters.
