AFP Applauds House of Representatives for Passing Budget Resolution

ARLINGTON, VA— Americans For Prosperity (AFP) commends the House of Representatives for passing a budget resolution today. It is a key step forward to prevent massive tax hikes that would result from the expiration of President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which would destroy the economy and American family budgets.

AFP Chief Government Affairs Officer, Brent Gardner, commented:

“The budget resolution passed by the House allows for the budget reconciliation process in Congress to begin in earnest and prevent massive tax increases that Americans do not want and too many cannot afford. The American people spoke loud and clear in November, they support President Trump’s pro-growth tax policies. We applaud Speaker Johnson and the House for accomplishing this important step towards making President Trump’s tax cuts permanent.” 

Skyrocketing inflation fueled by reckless government spending has put a huge strain on family budgets. During the Biden administration, prices increased more than 20%, forcing middle-class families to spend $1,000 more a month just to tread water. If Congress does not act and the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expires this year, average Americans would pay and additional $1,500 annually in taxes.

Speaker Johnson laid out a clear pro-growth platform at a conversation hosted by AFP at the Freedom Embassy on Monday, “if you reduce taxes and regulations… you unleash that power of the U.S. economy that has been smothered by government regulation for too long.” We agree.

In January, AFP launched a massive $20 million, 50-state campaign to make Americans aware of the coming tax-hikes- the largest effort by any group to date to support President Trump’s se-term agenda.
