Americans for Prosperity is leading the charge to extend the Trump tax cuts

“2025 is the Super Bowl of tax.”

That’s how U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania — a key member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee — framed the battle to extend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act during a recent expert panel hosted by Americans for Prosperity in partnership with the Manufacturer & Business Association.

More than 75 engaged citizens, business leaders, and community advocates gathered in Erie, Pennsylvania, to discuss the urgent need to extend the TCJA. With many of its key provisions set to expire in 2025, the clock is ticking.

What happens next will have major implications for families, businesses, and the broader economy.

This looming fiscal showdown is more than a technical tax debate; it’s a pivotal moment for economic freedom in America. Letting these tax cuts expire would saddle working families and small businesses with higher taxes, reduce opportunities for entrepreneurs, and fuel an already bloated federal bureaucracy.

And that might not be the worst of it.

If pro-growth provisions in the TCJA expire, business costs will rise — slowing the economy, stalling job creation, and even leading to job losses.

We’re talking 134,000+ jobs in California, 74,000+ in Texas, and almost 34,000 in Pennsylvania.

Think about what that’d mean for business owners, workers, and families across the country.

  • Factory floors going quiet as growth grinds to a halt
  • Small businesses scaling back operations or shutting their doors entirely because they can’t afford to stay open
  • Families forced to stretch already tight budgets as they lose their livelihoods — and face rising taxes at the same time

That’s why AFP is mobilizing now. The fight to preserve and extend the 2017 tax cuts is heating up — and winning it will require a groundswell of support from engaged citizens across the country.

“As Congress crafts pro-growth tax policy, it’s vital that we put our boots on the ground and hear from local business leaders,” Rep. Kelly said.

With the most challenging phase of the reconciliation process underway, the road ahead won’t be easy. That’s why AFP’s grassroots army is on the move in states like Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin — pushing hard to extend the 2017 TCJA before it’s too late.

AFP’s grassroots army reinforces this message across multiple channels, including through highly targeted digital ads and direct engagement with lawmakers, as part of the comprehensive strategy to enact a pro-growth economic agenda.

And of course, they’re knocking doors to speak face-to-face with Americans about what’s at stake if Congress fails or delays in extending the TCJA. You’ll see the team below in Allentown, north of Philadelphia.

Grassroots efforts like these are taking place all over the country as AFP’s grassroots army continues to build momentum to extend the TCJA, rallying support for policies that drive prosperity and secure America’s future.
