One beautiful bill. Big impact. Here’s why it deserves support

The House-passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which directs funding for major items like tax breaks, spending cuts, and border security, delivers on several important fronts.

But Senate passage isn’t guaranteed. This hard-won compromise is too important to let fall apart.

Here are five reasons why Congress should unite to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

LOCKING IN LOWER TAXES AND FUELING ECONOMIC GROWTH

The bill locks in the 2017 Trump tax cuts, keeps the 21% corporate tax rate, and extends pro-growth policies. Allowing these cuts to expire will result in a $4.5 trillion tax hike that would burden working families and small businesses, reduce opportunities for entrepreneurs, and allow an already bloated federal bureaucracy to get even bigger.

The tax cuts’ expiration would also drive up business costs — slowing the economy, stalling job creation, and potentially causing job losses. To prevent this, the bill extends full expensing for equipment purchases, restores expensing for research and development, and raises the federal estate and gift tax exemption to support investment and growth.

MORE PERSONAL CONTROL AND CHOICE OVER YOUR HEALTH CARE

America has some of the best doctors and medical innovation in the world — but the health care system can still feel like a maze. Red tape, confusing prices, and unpredictable coverage lead to patient frustration. That’s why reforms that give you more choice, control, quality, and affordability are such important steps in the right direction.

This bill delivers real health care reform by making 20 million more Americans eligible for tax-advantaged health savings accounts — adding to the 33 million people who currently have access to HSAs. It also removes barriers to direct primary care, making it easier for you to build a more comfortable, affordable, and transparent relationship with your doctor. And it codifies and strengthens CHOICE plans, giving you the freedom to use pre-tax dollars from your employer to buy portable, personally owned health insurance that fits your needs.

FUELING ENERGY SECURITY, JOBS, AND LOWER ENERGY COSTS

It strengthens American energy security, boosts job creation, and helps lower energy costs for families and businesses. The bill reforms the permitting process for oil, gas, and critical mineral projects, reducing the delays and legal hurdles that have long hampered domestic energy development. It speeds up environmental reviews and limits the ability of federal agencies to stall or block projects through endless red tape — changes that will make it easier to build pipelines, refineries, and other vital infrastructure.

In addition, the bill opens more federal land and offshore areas for exploration and production. It mandates regular lease sales for oil and gas drilling on federal lands and in regions like the Gulf and Alaska — areas the Biden administration sought to restrict.

ENDING BIDEN’S GREEN ENERGY SCAM

It eliminates wasteful handouts from the Biden administration’s so-called Inflation Reduction Act. The IRA included an estimated $391 billion in energy tax credits for the Biden administration’s favored corporate cronies. The credits are now projected to cost over $1.2 trillion, and the costs are still climbing.

The tax credits are supposed to encourage clean energy use and production. Instead, they distort markets, pick winners and losers, and put upward pressure on costs. This bill rolls back these expensive tax credits and levels the playing field, refocusing energy policy on affordability, reliability, and American strength.

DRAMATICALLY STRENGTHENS U.S. BORDER SECURITY

America needs secure borders and a functioning immigration system. Unfortunately, the Biden administration neglected border security. President Biden dismantled effective enforcement tools, tied the hands of Border Patrol agents, and allowed record numbers of border crossings.

The bill takes critical steps to restore security at our borders. It invests $46 billion to complete construction of President Trump’s border wall and provides critical resources to enforce the law — including funding for 3,000 new Border Patrol agents, 5,000 additional customs officers, and 10,000 new Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents dedicated to protecting our communities and upholding the rule of law.

MOMENTUM FOR MORE REFORMS

As the Senate takes up the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, lawmakers should stay focused on the overwhelmingly positive impact it will have.

The bill is a strong start — and its successful passage will provide momentum for even more meaningful reforms down the road.
